Biography

Sherita Sweeney, a native Marylander, is an invaluable member of the Arlington Thrive team. With a lifelong commitment to service and a deep passion for youth, Sherita’s journey began at the age of 14 when she volunteered as a teacher’s aide. This early experience ignited a ten-year career in teaching before Sherita transitioned into the non-profit sector. Holding a B.S. in Psychology from South Carolina State University, Sherita brings five years of non-profit experience along with over 15 years of expertise in HR, Compliance, Operations, Project, and Program management. Her dedication to humanitarian causes and homeless outreach is evident through her active involvement in local food pantries, schools, and centers. Sherita’s heart is particularly drawn to individuals with special needs, viewing them as angels sent by God to remind us of the beauty and preciousness of life. Her greatest blessing is her autistic son, Amir, who continues to inspire and shape her compassionate spirit.
