Introduction

As Mental Health Awareness Month approaches, Arlington Thrive is launching a campaign focused on the important link between safe and supportive housing and mental health. Our campaign, “Thriving in Safe and Supportive Housing,” aims to raise awareness about the impact of housing instability on mental health and provide resources for individuals to access safe and stable housing.

Weekly Themes

Throughout the month of May, we will be highlighting four weekly themes, each focused on a different aspect of how housing impacts mental health. Week 1 will focus on the impact of safe and stable housing on mental health, with resources available for those at risk of eviction or experiencing housing instability. Week 2 will examine how the home environment affects mental health and provide tips for creating a supportive and calming space at home. Week 3 will emphasize the importance of community connections for mental health and provide resources for individuals to connect with their local community. Finally, Week 4 will highlight the benefits of spending time in nature for mental health and provide resources for individuals to connect with nature, even in urban environments.

Our Goal

By raising awareness about the important connection between stable housing and mental health, we hope to empower individuals to take control of their surroundings, advocate for healthy communities, and prioritize their mental well-being. We believe that housing stability is a critical piece of the puzzle when it comes to mental health, and we aim to inspire individuals, communities, and policymakers to take action to support safe and supportive housing for all.

Stay tuned for our upcoming posts on the four weekly themes of our Mental Health Awareness Month campaign and join us in promoting good mental health through stable housing.
