When 148,000 federal workers were impacted earlier this year by sudden and abrupt reductions in force, staff with less than two years’ tenure at their agencies were immediately let go. Ava, one of the 25,000 former federal workers living in Arlington, was able to use her savings and work with her landlord to negotiate rent; but, as her job search dragged on, she needed help to get by.

Thanks to you, our loyal donors, Arlington Thrive’s new Federal Workers Resilience Fund was there for Ava. We were able to help cover Ava’s rent and provide support, security and a helping hand. Now, Ava can focus on her job search, knowing that her home is secure until she gets back on her feet.

Sudden job loss can happen to anyone. Across Arlington, our friends, families, loved ones, and lifelong public servants are experiencing this first-hand.

At Thrive, we are proud to have supported neighbors in times of uncertainty for over 50 years. Our guiding philosophy of neighbors helping neighbors continues to nimbly adapt in times of need to ensure that all our neighbors can thrive right here in Arlington.
