In the moment when we really, really needed help, Thrive was here.” The single mother from El Salvador was working as a cashier when Covid struck and her boss announced that she would only work a few hours a week. The four children still living at home range in age from four to sixteen and, she announces, they eat a lot. “Every two days we have to go back to the market to get more food,” she laughs. Elvira is grateful to Thrive for helping to pay her rent so she and her children can stay in their home.
