Gul, an undocumented immigrant, found herself in a challenging situation supporting a household of eight, where half of her children were eligible to attend Arlington Public Schools while the others were too young to do so. With the language barrier and immigration status posing significant obstacles, the Childcare Coordinator came to her aid. They successfully navigated the HeadStart enrollment process, one of the few income-based programs in Arlington that accommodates undocumented children. With her children now in a safe and nurturing environment, Gul was able to secure full-time employment with support from Thrive’s Community Navigator and transition her family from a shelter to a stable home in Arlington, marking a significant turning point in their lives.
