At Arlington Thrive, we believe everyone deserves a safe and stable place to call home. Our caring social work team is committed to breaking down the barriers that prevent individuals and families from accessing the resources they need to thrive. During Social Work Month, we are proud to share a story that highlights the importance of their work and the impact it can have on the lives of those we serve.
Recently, our social work team had the privilege of helping Zara, a single immigrant mother of seven, who was facing eviction. Zara was struggling to make ends meet and was at risk of losing her home, which would have had devastating consequences for her and her children. We knew we had to act quickly to help her secure her housing and connect her with the resources she needed to move forward and support her family.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide Zara with the financial assistance she needed to pay her rent and avoid eviction. But our support didn’t stop there. We also referred her to our Childcare Coordinator, who helped her find a subsidized, Spanish-speaking childcare program near her home for her infant within 60 days. This allowed Zara to start a new job on her infant’s first day in the program, providing her with a bridge to work.
Zara’s story is a testament to the power of social work and the impact it can have on the lives of those we serve. By breaking down barriers and providing critical support, we were able to help Zara keep her home and provide for her family. We are proud to have been able to make a real difference in her life and that of her children.
