How Arlington Thrive Met Neighbors Where They Were in FY25
In FY25, Arlington Thrive made a deliberate choice not to wait for neighbors in crisis to find us. We showed up — in schools, at community events, through trusted nonprofit partnerships, at the County Fair, and in the everyday spaces where Arlington families already live their lives.
That decision mattered because, in FY25, more Arlington households than ever suddenly found themselves navigating instability. Rising costs, federal workforce disruptions, reduced safety-net supports, and the ongoing affordability crisis created mounting pressure for working families, seniors, and young parents alike. As highlighted in Arlington Thrive’s FY25 Impact Report, the organization responded with focused, timely support designed to keep neighbors stable during uncertain times.
In FY25 alone:
- 437 neighbors received emergency financial assistance to cover urgent needs like rent, utilities, medical care, and other essentials.
- 92 children remained in affordable childcare so parents could continue working or pursuing education.
- 164 Wee Thrive Baby Boxes helped families cover critical infant-care needs not met through public benefits.
- 321 Arlington residents were connected to essential community resources through Thrive’s information and referral services.
- Arlington Thrive increased emergency financial assistance disbursed by 46% over the previous year.
Behind every number is something even more important: connection.
In FY25, Arlington Thrive intentionally strengthened community engagement efforts designed to help neighbors access support earlier — before a setback became a crisis. One of the year’s defining challenges was ensuring that critical services did not remain out of reach until hardship became severe.
So, with your support, Thrive showed up across the community, investing intentionally in meeting neighbors where they already gather — from community events to the County Fair. That approach helped build trust and awareness in a year when many residents were struggling quietly.
For new parents, that meant finding Arlington Thrive at the moment they needed infant essentials, nutrition guidance, or safe-sleep education. For federal workers facing layoffs or furloughs, it meant learning that emergency support existed before financial strain spiraled out of control. For families already connected to partners like Arlington Free Clinic, Doorways, PathForward, AHC, and True Ground, it meant receiving fast, flexible help through coordinated community partnerships.
Showing up also meant listening closely to learn where the gaps were growing.
When federal instability threatened household finances across Arlington, a neighbor seeded the Federal Workforce Resilience Fund to provide targeted support for affected workers. When childcare shortages and affordability continued to strain working parents, Thrive expanded supports that helped families remain employed while strengthening Arlington’s childcare workforce from within. And, when navigating Arlington’s social safety net became overwhelming, our Community Navigator offered something often missing in times of crisis: a real person providing hands-on guidance with dignity and care.
None of this happened accidentally. All of this happened because you chose to invest in responsive, relationship-based support.
Thanks to you, Arlington Thrive remained nimble and flexible in a fast-changing year, responding quickly when needs emerged, partnering effectively with trusted organizations, and providing help that addressed both immediate crises and long-term stability. Together, we changed lives.
We helped Ilia stabilize her housing while training for a new healthcare career. We helped Mike recover from a medical crisis during a federal shutdown. We helped Elena receive dentures she otherwise could not afford, restoring both her health and confidence.
This is what community support looks like. Not just programs. Not just statistics. But neighbors ensuring other neighbors do not face hardship alone.
As Arlington Thrive enters a new fiscal year, the need for this kind of connected, community-centered support continues to grow. Thankfully, history shows that when neighbors show up for one another, stability becomes possible.
If you believe in a community where neighbors are seen, supported, and connected before crisis deepens, now is the time to invest in Arlington Thrive. Together, we can keep showing up.
